Major League Baseball Player. Born Carlton Hoblitzell, he was nicked named ‘Doc' and made his debut as a first baseman with the Cincinnati Reds on September 5, 1908. He played for eleven seasons with the Cincinnati Reds (1908-14) and the Boston Red Sox (1915-18). He played in two World Series with the Boston Red Sox (1915-16), hitting a .273 average and ended his career with a record of 1310 hits, 591 runs scored, 27 homeruns, 593 runs batted in, a .278 batting average and a .987 fielding percentage.
