In 1948 was the beginning of The Goodman Family Quartet's first weekly radio broadcast on WDSG in Dyersburg Tennessee. They were known as one of the south's youngest gospel Quartets. Lola Goodman Townley started singing as a young child. She was the oldest in the group. They sung all over the country. They appeared at the Grand Old Opry. They sung on stage with many other famous gospel singers. Such as the Jordanaires which backed up Elvis Presley.
