Cecil "Chub" Reed, 95, Cherryvale formally of Elk City, Kansas passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Cherryvale Nursing and Rehab.

"Chub" was born October 5, 1917 in Elk City, KS; to Jim and Iva (Fowler) Reed. Chub attended and graduated from Elk City Schools.

After his education Chub enlisted in the United States Army and serving in the 137th field artillery battalion until he has honorably discharged in November 1945.

After returning home from the army "Chub" started working at Reed & Wydick grain elevator and ran the business until his retirement in 1992.

"Chub" married Wilma Foster in August 1965, she preceded him in death in June of 1988, he was also preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.

Survivors include 1 sister La Dorina Hall, Elk City, KS; step daughter Coylene Spear, Elk City, KS; 3 step grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
