Joy Boyce Lott died in Dillon's Barrett Memorial Hospital following a stroke sustained late Tuesday.
She was born Nov. 29, 1925, in Pocatello, Idaho, to William and Jessie Boyce. They moved to Charlo when she was a young girl, where she graduated from high school. She attended Montana State College and there met Dawes Lott. They were married in Charlo on June 30,1946, and sealed for eternity in the Cardsten, Alberta, Church of Latter-day Saints Temple on June 14, 1949.
She and Dawes lived and worked in Bozeman, Philipsburg and Charlo before returning to the family ranch operation in Twin Bridges in 1951 where they have resided since.
Joy was always involved in many community activities and compassionate services. For years she has served with the local library and has been weather recorder for Twin Bridges. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many ward and stake positions.
As a mother and grandmother, she has touched many lives. She was a wonderful cook and those gathered in her home were nurtured in so many ways as she shared her wisdom and convictions. She truly loved life and learning.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Boyce; one brother and sister.
Survivors include her husband Dawes; children, Marlan (Carla) Lott of Utah, Margaret (Bruce) Turpin, of Idaho, Loie (Ezra) Benson of Washington, Bonnie (Walt) Warner of Alaska, Joyann (George) Breakall, of Colorado, Laree (Brad ) McGarry of Utah, Julie Lott of North Carolina, Lynn (Jeff) Vial of Twin Bridges, Janell (Lony) Shaw of Twin Bridges; 47 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister; three brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
