Dawes was my brother's father-in-law and someone I dearly admired.

He was named Dawes after his mother's maiden name, a family tradition. Likewise, his son, Boyce, was also named according to this tradition.

He was born in Twin Bridges, MT to Bess (Dawes) and Mortimer Lott. He graduated from high school there and attended Montana State College until his education was interrupted by World War II. A B-17 lead navigator in the Army Air Corps, he was awarded many military honors including a purple heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross.

He returned to MSC where he met Joy Boyce. They were married June 30, 1946. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Cardston, Alberta LDS Temple on June 14, 1949.

They worked in Charlo and Philipsburg before returning to the family's Twin Bridges ranch where he worked until his retirement, shortly before his death.

He gave much community service including town and school clerk. He served in many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Mallie Louise Lott, his eternal sweetheart, Joy in 2002, and a son, Boyce, in 1993.
