Marvin Ervin (M.E.) Longwell went to be with our Lord and Savior at the age of 91 on Dec. 2, 2011 at the family ranch on California Mesa surrounded by his family.

Ervin was born on Dec. 15, 1919 to Oliver and Lottie (Dodson) Longwell in Yukon, Mo. In 1930, the family moved from Missouri to the Montrose area. Ervin married Dorothy Catherine Arlene Smith on Jan. 3, 1942 in Aztec, NM.

Ervin served his country during WWII. In 1948, they moved to California Mesa where he lived until the time of his death.

On March 31, 1989, he married Mary E. Jackson. He was a lifelong rancher. His enjoyment included grandkids, cattle, horses, fishing and hunting. He will be greatly missed by many.

He is survived by his wife; four children, Terry (Cheryl) Longwell of Kentucky; Kathy (Kent Neely) Longwell of Delta; Karen (Tom) Ickes of Montrose; Gary (Terry) Longwell of Olathe; four stepchildren, Jack (Alice) Jackson of Grand Junction; Ron (Donna) Jackson of Loma; Sam (Sandy) Jackson of Ridgway; John (Yvonne) Jackson of Ridgway; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, sister, Ruth Pahl and his parents.
