CANTON-Alma Eugenia Nordberg, 91, died on Wed. (1/2/2013) in Canton, NY. Friday,

Mrs. Nordberg was born June 3, 1921 in New York City, the daughter of Franz Oscar and Hilda Charlotta (Hanson) Ottoson. She grew up in the Bronx and after graduation from High School worked briefly as a dental assistant.

Around 1941 Alma enrolled in Philidelphia School of the Bible and attended there in the evenings while working days in a munitions plant. During her four years in Philidelphia she was courted by Robert Nordberg. The couple married on June 23, 1945 and moved to Parkchester in the Bronx. They later moved to Westchester County. She moved to Canton in 2009 after the death of her husband.

Alma was a charter member of Hillside Church in Armonk, New York and served in children's ministry for 25 years.

Flower and vegetable gardening, cooking and sewing were passions of Alma's for most of her life. She also ministered to women prisoners at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility through a Salvation Army Christmas Gift Program. Alma taught "release time" Bible Study at Hillcrest School for Children also in Bedford Hills, New York for many years.

Mrs. Nordberg is survived by her two sons, Dr.Robert Nordberg and Donald Nordberg, both of Canton; her daughter-in-law, Margaret; and by four grandchildren, Elizabeth Skoglund Smith, Dr. Jonathan Emanuel Nordberg, Christian David Emanuel Nordberg, and Robert Ethan Emanuel Nordberg. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Emanuel Nordberg in 2006 and her brother Irvine in 1955.

Burial was made in Mount Hope Cemetery, Hastings-on- Hudson, New York.
