Marietta Daily Leader, Sept. 26, 1899.....
Levi Barber committed suicide by hanging himself on the bedpost by a towel at the home of his sister, Mrs. Lucy Cole. The cause is supposed to be depression over ill health since he was a lifelong cripple and had recently had a fall which injured his arm so badly he feared blood poisoning. He was about age 59, the son of Levi Barber, who was previously Provost Marshall in the Civil War. Besides the sister, he had a brother Henry in the west.
