Long time Page resident Monte Cheek, 71, passed away on Dec. 5 in Flagstaff after a short battle with cancer. He was born on Sept. 12, 1940 in Glendale, Calif. He graduated from Banning High School and married his sweetheart, Gig Cheek, in 1958. They moved to Page in 1973 where he worked for Salt River Project until his retirement in 2003. Monte Loved to play golf and watch his grandchildren play sports. If you knew him, you would say he was one of the nicest, most genuine persons you had ever met. Monte is survived by his children: Shelly (Dave) Farrow of Page, Hollie (Ron) Rosser of Panguitch, Utah and Mark Cheek of Page; grandchildren Brendon Powers, Lacey Rosser, Katie Rosser and Lorraine Cheek; and great granddaughter, Joey Jill Rosser. He is preceded in death by his wife Gig and grandson, Joey Garrison. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Page Cemetary. A luncheon will be held at the Catholic Church immediately following.
