He was the son of the late, Marshall and Annie Johnson Ball and was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Lanora McChann Ball and a son Marshall Ball.
Sherman was a member of Unity Baptist Church and loved to garden. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Mike Gordon of Rocky Face; grandsons Greg (Carol) Ball and Kendall (Erin) Ball; great-grandchildren, Kendra Ball, Hallee Ball, William Gordon and Andrew Gordon; nieces, nephews and his cat Callie.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday from Unity Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Marlin officiating. Burial will follow in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
