Bernard (Bernie) Alfred Straight II, a well recognized resident of Orland, Calif. passed unexpectedly on Jan. 23, 2013 while attended to by his beloved companion, his dog Sally. Orland citizens recognized Bernie as the guy riding his bike with the homemade cart towed behind carrying his most prized possession, Sally. Bernie was well known for and loved his garden of roses and okra grown every year in his front yard. He was extremely proud of his father, Bernard Sr., and loved to show his family photo album to friends. Bernie was laid to rest near his father in Woodbine, Iowa on Feb. 13, 2013.
Bernie was survived by his loving companion, his dog, Sally; son, Brandan Straight; mother, Georgene Walker; six sisters; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Bernard A. Straight, Sr. and brother, Roger A. Straight.
