*There were several different spellings of Ingbretson over the years--in Norway it was usually spelled INGEBRIGTSEN.


*Official Norway church birth/baptism records confirm that Ole's birth was in the year 1839, not 1840 (as listed in the obituary).

In Vardø Ole was a fisherman. He emigrated from Norway in July, 1881 on the ship Tasso; his destination was listed as Menomonie, Wisconsin.

According to Norwegian immigration records, Oleana and four of their children immigrated in September, 1883 on the ship Tasso, with the destination listed as Bayfield, Wisconsin:

From Norwegian census records we also see that Ole had another son, BERNT, born in 1868 but labeled in the census as a "lunatic." He did not immigrate to the USA and remained in Vardø.

In the 1900 U.S. and 1905 Wisconsin Census' Ole lived in Washburn Township, and in the 1920 U.S. Census (taken Jan 15th), Ole (age 81) was living with son Alfred (age 40) at #31 Omaha Street in Bayfield WI.

Gravesite Details

Ole was buried 06 May 1920 at Woodland Cemetery in the Old Cemetery section; we have been unable to find any grave marker for Ole Ingbretson.
