Charles E. Deyo, a retired machinist for International Harvester Company in Poughkeepsie and a lifetime area resident, died May 3, 2004 at Mountainview Nursing Home. He was 92. The son of the late Jesse Deyo and Josephine C. LeFevre Deyo, he was born March 29, 1912 in New Paltz. He was the widower of Marion Harp Deyo, who died June 18, 1997.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of New Paltz Reformed Church where he served as Deacon and Elder. Charles was a trustee and life member of the New Paltz Historical Society and Deyo Family Association; member of New Paltz American Legion Post 176; Ulster County Legion Post; 12th Armored Division of the Forty and Eighties Organization; New Paltz-Gardiner Senior Citizens Club; member and trustee of the New Paltz Rural Cemetery Board.
Survivors include his brother, Donald R. Deyo of Cornwall-on-Hudson; sister Helen and her husband Henry Mertz of Leesburge, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
