Rev. Elmer Edwin Aalto, 49, of 727 Grand Ave., Random Lake, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church there, died unexpectedly Thursday at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since May 25. He had served Wisconsin congregations at Loyal, Greendale, Rome, Richland Center and Lakefield prior to coming to Random Lake four years ago. Rev. Mr. Aalto was born April 17, 1923, at Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Eino Aalto. On July 20, 1946, he was married to the former Dorothy Eske at Milwaukee. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, chaplain in the Wisconsin Air National Guard and a member of the Military Order of World Wars. He had been serving as president of the Random Lake Public Library Board. Survivors are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Erwin (Christine) Witte Jr., Grafton, and Ruth, Susan and Jane, all at home; his parents of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Ray Blair, Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., and Mrs. Norman Holmes, Wauwatosa, and one grandchild. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Church with Rev. John Hagen, pastor of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Sheboygan, officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Random Lake. Graveside rites will be conducted by members of Wisconsin Air National Guard, and members of St. Paul Church council will act as pallbearers. Friends may call at Wilk Funeral Home, Random Lake, from 4:30 p.m. Saturday until the time of services Sunday.
