Adam Schnell Brillion News November 7, 1913

CALLED BY DEATH
Adam Schnell, an aged respected citizen of our city died last night of heart failure having attained the ripe old age of 79 years. Decedent was born in Germany coming to this country as a young man with his brother in 1856 and settled in Illinois. Like so many of his countrymen, scarcely had they settled down in their new home, when the land of their adoption in its hour of need appealed to them for aid in crushing the rebellion of the southern states and with thousands of other sons of the Fatherland, Mr. Schnell responded and served in the union army throughout the civil war.
At the close of the war he went to Milwaukee where he was united to the wife who now survives him. The couple came to the town of Brillion about 30 years ago settling on a farm and here they lived until about 12 years ago when Mr. and Mrs. Schnell retired from farming and took up their residence in our city at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Otto Schroeder. Besides Mrs. Schroeder, one son, George, survives the deceased.
The funeral will be held next Monday, 1:30 p.m. at the church of the Evangelical Assn., 1:00 p.m. at the house, Rev. Katen officiating.
