h/o Barbara Gorius Glattfelder. He is my 7th ggrandfather.Sons # 70528840 /Peter, & Casper # 38860249 on FAG. The Glattfelder family came from Glattfelden, Zurich Switzerland. Most of the Glattfelder families in America came from two brothers Casper and Johann Peter Glattfelder. They were the sons of Felix Glattfelder born 1669. The Glattfelder family originated in Glattfelden, Zurich, Switzerland. Brothers Casper (b. 1709) and Peter (b. 1700) set out for the Carolinas in 1742. Sadly, Johann Peter drowned in the Rhine River on the way to Basel, and the two families returned to Glattfelden. The following year, the two families left again for America on the ship "Francis and Elizabeth," and arrived 30 August 1743 to Philadelphia. Both settled for some time in York County, PA, and some of Peter's family (Felix and Rudolf) moved on to Rowan Co. (now Davidson Co.), NC. In North Carolina, the spelling of the name was eventually changed to "Clodfelter."
