Benjamin McLemore (Mack) Camp, Sr. was born in Henderson, Texas on January 19, 1921 to Walter Thompson Camp, Sr. and Maria McLemore Camp. He died on June 22, 2013 in Lufkin, Texas. He resided in Rusk, Gregg, and Angelina Counties most of his life. He was employed by Entex for 45 years. Mack served in World War II in the Army Air Corps, and was stationed on Tinian Island as a B-29 propeller specialist. He married Betty Elizabeth Egenes in 1943. They were married 68 years until her death in 2012. Mack was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and chaired the building committee for the church sanctuary built in 1992 He was an Elder and Deacon and served on many church committees and projects through the years. He was an avid golfer, member of Lufkin Country Club, and President of the Board. In addition to golf, Mack played softball, tennis, and bowled in his earlier years. He loved people and had friends everywhere he went. He remained active and independent until his death. He is survived by his son, Benjamin McLemore Camp, Jr. and Nancy Corinne Rendleman Camp of Harper, Texas; daughter, Carol Camp Moore and Jerry Moore of Lufkin; grandchildren, Andrew Moore, Lufkin, Erin Moore Thiebert and Jeffrey Thiebert, McLean, VA, Benjamin Moore and Melinda Coziar Moore, Lufkin, and Amanda Page Camp, Houston, Matthew Thompson Camp and Kim Rasmussen Camp of Houston. Great-grandchildren are Ryan Patrick Moore, Owen Marshall Thiebert, Emerson Virginia Thiebert and Madeline Elizabeth Moore and Graham McLemore Camp. Mack was preceded in death by his wife Betty; his sisters, Jo Margaret Pitman, Frances Custer, Antoinette Camp, Charlene Camp; and brother, Walter Camp, Jr. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Lufkin, on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at 2 p.m. with a reception following in the Fellowship Hall. Interment will be in the City Cemetery, Henderson, Texas on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 9 AM. Memorials may be sent to First Presbyterian Church and Hospice in the Pines, Lufkin.
