Miles Author Blackmon was born August 12, 1948 in Jackson, Mississippi to the late Mr. and Mrs. Simmon and Willie Mae Blackmon. Miles was the first of seven siblings. Brothers Willie, Ronald and Martin preceded him in his homegoing.

Educated through the Detroit Public Schools system, Miles graduated in 1967 from Northern High.

Miles confessed his life to the Lord at an early age and attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. After 30 years of service, Miles retired from Detroit Diesel.

Miles' passion was his hats, jazz, beating the bongos and thumping the drums. He was a percussion player with a band for Martha Reeves. During his years of growing up, he would thump the drums in the stairwells of the Brewster Projects with Stevie Wonder. Miles' most prized passion was his image which landed him the title of best dressed in high school.
