Alice first appeared on the 1900 census living in White Eyes Township, Coshocton County, Ohio, with her parents, George and Lovina and siblings Charles, Joseph, Dora, Earnest and Minnie. Her father, born in Ireland, is listed as a retired farmer.

On February 17, 1908, Alice married Philip Allen and by 1910, they had moved to Newcastle, Coshocton County, Ohio. Alice is a dressmaker and Philip is a blacksmith. In 1920, they lived in Coshocton with their daughter Roma, and Alice's mother, Lovina. Philip is working as a machinist in a pipe factory.

In 1930, they remained in Coshocton, and have added daughter Patricia to their family. Still in Coshocton in 1940, Alice worked as a cook, operating the lunch room at the Coshocton Clow plant, Philip was retired and Patricia 'Patty Ann' was in the household, along with sister Roma, Roma's husband Ray Wilson and their two children Don and Mary Alice.
