Ercole GARBACCIO was born on 19 Dec 1867 to Caterina BARRA(1842? – ?) and Giuseppe GARBACCIO (1842? – ?) in Mosso Santa Maria, Biella Province, of the Piemonte Region of Italy. He was baptized 4 January 1868 in Biella, capital city of Biella Province.

He was about 18 years old when he emigrated from Italy to the Boston area of the US in 1886. It appears his 1st arrival in the US was on 24 Feb 1886. He is listed as a "weaver" on the NY Passenger List for the ship, "Canada".

On the 30th of May 1887 Ercole married Secondina GARBACCIO in West Hoboken, Hudson County, NJ.They both had the same Garbaccio surname but were not related. They had 3 children: Henry, Angelina & Gelsomino. Unfortunately Ercole died on 26 December 1894, just seven days after his 27th birthday.

According to the NJ State Archives Ercole Garbaccio was buried in Sandy Hill Cemetery, Paterson, NJ BUT I also have learned that cemetery land was taken over by the town and soon a public school was built right over where Ercole was buried. Today that school is now the Eastside High School, 150 Park Avenue, Paterson, NJ 07501, USA which is famous for its renaissance in the mid-1980s under the leadership of Joe Clark as principal. The school was depicted in the 1989 film Lean on Me, starring Morgan Freeman.

I understand that in 1920, St. John’s Roman Catholic removed all their Sandy Hill interments to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa. On researching Holy Sepulchre there is no Ercole Garbaccio listed... So where exactly IS Ercole Garbaccio buried???
