James "Jimmy" H. Goins, age 83, of Cottondale, died Sept. 14, 2013 at 4:15 pm, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cottondale Church of the Nazarene with Linda G. Shuttlesworth and James Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Snider Goins; his parents, Rev. and Mrs. James W. Goins; brothers, Rodger and Reggie Goins; and his sister, Doris Hutchins.

Survivors include 2 sons; 3 sisters; 1 brother; 2 grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jimmy was born Sept. 14, 1930, and raised in Cottondale, Alabama. He was a life-long member of Cottondale Church of the Nazarene. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He also served the Lord faithfully for over 60 years and prayed that everyone would come to know Jesus.

Honorary pallbearers are members of Cottondale Church of the Nazarene, the staff of Amedisys Home Health & Hospice, co-workers of Gulf States Paper Mill, friends and neighbors of the Cottondale Community, Dr. Grant Strong and staff of Tuscaloosa VA, Dr. Donnie Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Scrivner, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Atkins, caregivers, Anita Rogers and one of Heaven's angels Miss DeDe Martin.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National MS Society Alabama Chapter and Cottondale Church of the Nazarene.
