Phil attended Providence public schools, graduated from Brown University and completed an additional year at M I T in business administration. Phil lived with and helped care for his parents, working for himself handling investments. In 1940, he married Gertrude Linden, a woman his mother met at the bank and introduced to him.
About 1942, Phil and Gertrude moved down to Edgewood, R.I. to help care for Phil's sisters children while she was ill and they stayed there until after World War II. Then, they bought a house in Warwick, R.I. where they lived for the rest of Phil's life. Phil died
