Thorvald Christian Petersen, 97, of Moorhead died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will b 2 p.m. Friday at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Moorhead, with Rev. Carla Ingebretsen officiating. Burial will be in Ingemann Cemetery, Moorhead. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Thorvald was born Nov. 16, 1905, in Sioux Township, Monona County, Iowa, the son of Nels C. and Katherine (Petersen) Petersen. He was a lifelong resident of Monona County.

He married Florence Flint on Dec. 23, 1929.

He spent the last eight years at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.

Survivors include a son and his wife, three daughters, nine grandchildren; and three great-step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; an infant son, Norman; his parents; two infant sisters; a brother, Peter who died in Osternede, Denmark; a grandson, David Jepson; and two sons-in-law, Magnus Jepson and LeRoy Anderson.
