James Emmett "T" Stockard was born January 9, 1925, in Lewisville, Texas, to John William and Mabel Crawford Stockard. The Stockard family were early settlers in the Flower Mound and Lewisville area. Johnnie, the oldest of seven sons born to David and Annie Crawford Stockard, was a peanut farmer on the land that is now the Parker Square Complex. T's great-grandfather Jesse Crawford was one of the three founding trustees of the Donald Academy. T attended the Donald school until his family moved to the eastern part of old Lewisville then known as "Buttermilk Flats" when he was eight years old to continue farming in "the Bottom." T graduated from Lewisville High School in 1942; he was active in FFA, attending many competitions, and he was on the staff of the first Farmer yearbook.

As he grew into his maturity, he attended Draughon's Business College and served in the U.S. Army. Upon his return from the Army, he began a life of community service that included Lewisville Rotary Club and Lewisville Masonic Lodge #201 where he was a Past Master. He belonged to the Lewisville Chamber of Commerce, served on the Board of Directors of the Lewisville National Bank, and was part of the group that was instrumental in bringing cable TV to Lewisville. An enthusiastic supporter of the Lewisville Farmers, he often furnished trailers for Homecoming floats, helped establish the FFA Friends and family support group, and always held season football tickets. He was inducted into the Lewisville High School Hall of Fame in 2004.

T married the love of his life, Martha Carroll, on April 3, 1965. Together they enjoyed the Highlanders Square Dancers, the Lewisville First United Methodist Church, the Camping Squares, the Fun seekers, their Ruidoso cabin, their Valley View farm, traveling, their friends and their families. Most of all they enjoyed being together and helping others. Their legacy of love and friendship is legendary. T was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Martha, several nieces and nephews, as well as a legion of cousins, all who loved and respected him and will miss him dearly. T was devoted to and beloved by Martha, his family, his friends, his church family, and his community. He was a role model for selflessness, good citizenship, patriotism, loyalty, and generosity.
