Edgar C. "Bud" Huselton Jr., 88, of Butler died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at home after a long illness.
Born in Butler, June 12, 1916, he was the son of Edgar C. and Lyde Burtner Huselton.
He was a graduate of Butler High School and received a bachelor's degree in business from Penn State University in 1941. In 1942, he joined the Army and served in Europe until his discharge in 1945.
Mr. Huselton began working at Armco's Butler plant in various capacities in 1935 and returned to the company after his Army service. In 1953, he was transferred to Armco's general offices in Middletown, Ohio, and was named manager of personnel placement in 1961. He returned to Butler in 1963 as assistant to the works manager, a post he held until his retirement in 1973.
Following his retirement, he took over management of Community Finance, a company founded by his father-in-law, Carl Cheeseman. He served as president until the company was sold.
Prior to moving to Middletown, he had been active in the community, serving on the Butler City School Board and the Butler City Recreation Board. In Middletown, he was director and secretary/treasurer of the Armco Employee Credit Union, a member of the YMCA board and a deacon and elder at First United Presbyterian Church.
When he returned to Butler in 1963, he resumed his community involvement, serving on the board of the YMCA and the Mental Health Guidance Clinic and was president of the Butler Area Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the board of the Butler Country Club.
Mr. Huselton was a member of Hill United Presbyterian Church, where he served as elder and was on various committees.
He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and a great-grandniece.
His wife, the former Margaret Cheeseman, died in 1984. He was also preceded in death by a brother, B. Chandler Huselton; and three sisters, Mrs. Helen Green and Miss Sue Huselton of Bradenton, Fla., and Mrs. Jane Staples of Birmingham, Mich.
HUSELTON - Friends of Edgar C. "Bud" Huselton Jr., who died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Clark Sawyer, his church pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at North Side Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice, 154 Hindman Road, Butler PA 16001.
