U.S. Congressman. He attended the University of Iowa, graduated from State Teachers College, in 1927, from the University of Wisconsin, in 1932 and was an instructor in high schools at Omro and Oconto, Wisconsin, (1926 to 1929), He also was a member of the faculty of Oregon State College, (1929 to 1931), at the University of Detroit, (1936 to 1938) and superintendent of schools at Pulaski, Wisconsin, (1932 to 1935). Plus an instructor at Wisconsin Junior College, in 1936 and educator, journalist, lecturer, editor and publisher, at Hurley, Wisconsin, (1940 to 1942). In 1943, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-eighth Congress and to the next fourteen succeeding Congresses, serving until 1973. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he founded the NBC affiliate station WAEO-TV, of north-central Wisconsin. He sold the TV station in 1976 and lived in retirement until his death.
