Mrs. F.C. Breazeal

Mrs. Mary Walter Breazeal, 81, wife of Frank C. Breazeal, died at her home on Bedford avenue at 8:45 o'clock Sunday night, following a long illness. Mrs. Breazeal was born in Roanoke county,a daughter of David and Frances Schenk Barnett,but had lived in Bedford for nearly sixty years. She was twice married,her first husband being Leonidas Rosser White,and of this union one daughter survives,Mrs. H.A. Wilson,of Bedford.

Mrs. Breazeal was a member of Bedford Methodist church for more than fifty years and a devout Christian woman,who was active to the last in all branches of the church's work. She was past president of the Ladies' Adi Society and of the Mrs. E. Sumter Smith Bible class, and was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Gracous in manner,kind and generous,she numbered her friends by the hundred and among Bedford people generally there is sorrow over her passing.
Surviving besides her husband and daughter are one great granddaughter,Mary McCown Thomas;one brother Blanton S. Barnett of Roanoke,and the following stepdaughters: Mrs. Acree Jones,of California;Mrs. W.C. Ballard and Mrs. H.D. Wills of Bedford.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock,conducted by the pastor,Rev. J.B.Douglas,assisted by Dr. G.H.Spooner and Dr. J.H. Grey, with interment in Longwood. Active pallbearers were G.R.Richardson,M.P.Rucker,W.L.Lyle,W.R.Phelps,H.G.Burks and Frank H. Mitchell.

Honarary pallbearers were: W.W. Berry,J.A.Clark,F.O. Thomas,A.G.Cummings,J.T.Davidson Sr.,George W. Johnson,S.D.Gills,H.A.Gills,Frank Jack,H.S. Ballard,W.E. Bush,W.H. Dortch,F.C. Ford,W.P. Hurt,S.B.
