Asheville – CSM Thomas Wesley Queen, US Army Retired, 81, of 12 Lynwood Circle, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals.

A native of Dillsboro, he had resided in Buncombe County for most of his life. He retired in 1991 from Southern Railway following 42 years of service, was a Boy Scout Leader, was active in Amatuer Radio with the call letter, K4BNP and was commissioned by the FCC to administer Amatuer Radio Exams. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and Vietnam War and retired in 1986 from the NC National Guard following 32 years of service.

Mr. Queen was the son of the late Claude Baxter Queen and Pauline "Polly" Melton Queen.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Faye Bradley Queen of the home; son, Steven Wesley Queen, M.D. of Sylva; daughter, Melissa Jane Hughes of Hendersonville; sisters, Barbara Jean Cabe of Dillsboro, Janette Beasley of Reston, VA and Peggy Mason of Chattanooga, TN; several nieces and nephews, faithful companion, "Lola" and special friend, Norman G. Harrill.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday, January 3, 2014 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Locust Field Cemetery in Dillsboro.
