Leland "Dale" Ingle,89, of Ollie, entered into rest at 12:25 a.m. Dec. 31, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a brief illness.
Dale was born Feb. 29,1924, in a log cabin northwest of Ollie (on the Ingle farm) to Mart and Ella McWilliams Ingle.
He was a graduate of Ollie High School with the class of 1941. Dale enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served a year overseas near Japan. After his discharge in 1946, he met Evelyn Ruth Shipley of Delta. They were married April 18, 1948. Evelyn preceded him in death March 13, 2010, after almost 62 years of marriage.
Dale farmed his entire life in the Ollie area. He was a 50-plus-year member of the Masons, KAABA Shrine, 32 degree KCCH Consistary, Eastern Star, served on the Pekin School Board for many years, was a Jackson Township trustee and a member of the Ollie Baptist Church.
Dale is survived by his three sons, Jim and Ruth Ingle of West Des Moines, Jack and Dondra Ingle of Ollie, and Marty Ingle of Ottumwa; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Evelyn, two brothers (Harold & Melvin) and one sister (Elsie).
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Ollie Baptist Church; Rev. Carla Nelson officiating. Military honors will be provided by Richland American Legion Post #504. Burial will follow in Rock Creek Cemetery near Ollie.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Fremont Funeral Chapel followed by a Masonic service beginning at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to either the Ollie Baptist Church or the Sigourney Care Center.
