Burnice I. (Stephens) Fox, 80, of Parker passed away Wednesday at the Serenity House of Shippenville.
She was born on Aug. 18, 1933, in Butler, the daughter of Robert and Lillian Marie (Stevenson) Stephens.
Burnice grew up in Bruin, but lived most of her life in West Freedom. She graduated from Bruin High School and dedicated her life to caring for her family.
Knitting and gardening were two of Burnice's favorite hobbies. She was a member of the Sligo Presbyterian Church and the Rebekah Lodge in West Freedom. Burnice had a great love of music and was a member of the Stephens Family music group. She played the bass, fiddle and mandolin, performing with her family live on radio shows and at square dances. Burnice will be remembered for her musical talents and kind heart.
Her memory will be cherished by her daughter, Deanna Yori and her husband, Melvin, of Hawthorne; her grandchildren, Sasha, Andrew and Tanner Yori, Jeremy and Stephanie Fox and Dakota Fox; her two great-grandchildren; her brothers, Glen Stephens and his wife, Sue, of Foxburg and Robert Stephens and his wife, Jane, of Fenelton; and her sisters, Twila Ritchey of Shippenville and Charlotte Minich of Kittanning.
Burnice was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 52 years, Harold Fox, who she married on Dec. 3, 1957, and who died in 2009; her sons, Rodney D. Fox and Stephen Fox; her sisters, Pearl Thomas and Velma Visneskey; and her infant sister.
FOX - At the family's request, the services for Burnice I. (Stephens) Fox, who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, will be private. Burial will be in Perryville Cemetery, Parker.
Memorial contributions may be made in Burnice's honor to the Clarion Forest VNA Hospice, 271 Perkins Road, Clarion, PA 16214.
The arrangements are being handled by the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home, Kittanning.
