Nicholas Jr. inherited his father's plantation, Liberty Hall, in 1803. Before Nicholas died, he left the estate to his son, Nathaniel Francis Cabell.
Nicholas Jr. died at the early age of twenty-eight and was buried with his family at Liberty Hall.

"In memory of/NICHOLAS CABELL, Jr./Youngest son of Col. Nicholas Cabell/Born Dec. 24, 1780/Died June 25, 1809/Aged 28 years"
