Ernest Lloyd Newberry, 89, of Lantana, Texas, went home to be with his Lord on January 24, 2014. Ernest was born June 16, 1924 in Champaign, IL to Roseo and Ive Newberry. With the onset of WWll, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS San Francisco. He served approximately 20 years in the USN before retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He loved to work and continued on as Deputy Sheriff in Orange County, a Yardman for Sully Miller contracting, and was active with the Senior Patrol in Big Bear, California.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, the love of his life, Genevieve Kujawinski, and his daughter and son-in-law, Allan and Sheila White. He is survived by his other daughter, and her husband, four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
