SHREVEPORT, LA - George W. Nobles, 70, formerly of Monroe, LA, a retired U.S. Army First Sergeant and retired JROTC instructor with Caddo Parish Schools- Green Oaks High School, died Wednesday.

George was married to Othorene Zimmerman.

George is survived, remembered and missed by his children; Jan Lewis of Monroe, KaJuana L. Nobles of Red Oak, TX, Kenya T. Nobles of Dallas, TX, Korey E. Hunt of Red Oak, TX, MA3 LaKendria L. Moore of Atsgugi, Japan (US Navy); grandchildren, Courtney D. Lewis of Monroe, LA, Kiya Lewis-Black (Deshantric), of Shreveport, Elexia M. Nobles of Monroe; great grandchildren, Lauren and Logan Ballard of Monroe, Kylee Raye Black of Shreveport; brother, Robert E. Nobles, West Monroe; aunt, Alma J. Griffin of Monroe; uncles, Alexander D. Jones of Kent, WA, A.J. Jones (Betty) of Monroe, Willie B. Jones (Groverine) of Pass Christian, MS; a devoted friend, Mary Caldwell of Shreveport; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Winnfield Funeral Home, 3701 Hollywood Avenue, Shreveport. Visitation is 1-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park.

"Sarge", as he was so affectionately called, passed away Feb. 5, 2014, at Lifecare Hospitals of Shreveport.

Mr. Nobles was born was born on July 22, 1943 and passed away on February 5, 2014. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for 22 years including a tour in Vietnam. Mr. Nobles is survived by 5 children - Janice, Kajuana, Kenya, Korey and LaKendria.
