Alban Housley Adams, born in Indiana. Was a Horticulturist and inventor. He was granted a patent for improvements to the Hoop-Cutting Machine in 1893. He had a large orange grove and packing house in Ft. Meade.

He and wife Elizabeth are credited with building a hotel in Ft. Meade, called Adams House. It sat on the corner of current day Polk Ave. His son Harry Morton Adams was a farmer and store owner in West Palm Beach in 1926.
