AGED CALIFORNIAN BURIED TODAY - MRS. CECILIA M. ADAMS WAS THE DAUGHTER OF VICTOR MARTINEZ OF MONTEREY FAME
Funeral services were held Tuesday last at Thomas Monahan undertaking parlors for Mrs. Cecilia M. Adams, aged 83 years, 5 months, 18 days, wife of the late John H. Adams, a former policeman of this city when James A. Kidward was chief of police. The remains were taken to St. Joseph's church where short services were conducted in the afternoon by Rev. Father Lopez. Interment took place at Oak Hill Cemetery, the following officiating as pallbearers: Patricio Figueroa, Lorenzo Gallardo, Vicente Ortega, Jose Quijade, Roman Espinosa and Ygnacio Rangel. A large number of old friends of the deceased were present at the obsequies and many beautiful flowers were in evidence.

Mrs. Adams was born in Monterey, her father, Victor Martinez, being a member of a distinguished family of that town over 100 years ago. The deceased was the mother of Mrs. Nellie De La Cruz and Mrs. Jennie Gallardo, the grandmother of Mrs. Evelyn Moss and George, Helen, Cecilia, Dorothy and Henry De La Cruz, and Carrie Adams and the great grandmother of Ruth, Evelyn and John Moss.
