ELIZABETH R. BAUKNECHT

Elizabeth "Betty" (Schultz) Bauknecht, entered into eternal life on September 2, 2012, at the age of 93, at Northland Lodge Assisted Living where she called home for the last 2 years.

Betty was born July 7, 1919, in Two Rivers, the daughter of the late William and Mamie (Bartleme) Schultz. She lived her entire life in Two Rivers, attending St. Luke's Catholic School and graduating from Washington High School in 1937. She then completed her nursing education as an RN at Holy Family School of Nursing, receiving her degree in 1940. Betty was the youngest of 7 siblings whom all preceded her in death. On December 1, 1945, Betty married Floyd Bauknecht, who preceded her in death in 1989. Together they raised ten children whom they dedicated their lives to.

She is survived by her ten children (private). She is further survived by her grandchildren; her thirteen great grandchildren; her five great-great grandchildren; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law (private), along with many special nieces and nephews and many many friends. She was preceded in death by her beautiful little granddaughter: Michelle Rose Bauknecht in 1989 and her great grand daughter: Gabrielle Kirchner in 2006. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by her siblings: Zeno(Zella), Francis (Mary), Fritz (Olive), Joe (Mary), infant brother: Wiliam and her favorite sister: Mary Ann Beitzel.

Mom accomplished so much in her 93 years. She leaves a legacy of love with God and her church, her family, her friends and her community. God was always first in Mom's life-she was a faith-filled servant even in her last weeks, praying the rosary with her family when she was too weak to speak.

To her family-she taught us what it truly means to love unconditionally. To the grand kids and great grandkids-on your first day of school each year know that GG is wishing you a great school year as she did every year. Make new traditions with your families but don't forget the ones that GG made with you. Take all of the love that GG had for you and pay it forward to make the world a better place.

To her extended family-Mom loved your visits and outings. She talked often of how blessed she was to have so many nieces and nephews and always looked forward to updates on your lives and your families. And we know that Schultz in her kept the stories of days gone by alive by passing them onto each of you.

To her friends-through raising children, working on committees at church, school and community, her card buddies, her volunteering friends, her Red Hat friends-Mom truly was blessed with life-long friendships that endured the best of times and the worst of times. We learned a lot from Mom about the art of developing and treasuring friendships.

To her community-she leaves a legacy of volunteering. Mom volunteered in so many ways, even delivering meals on wheels with her son and daughter-in-law up until her last weeks. But her favorite work was with the Two Rivers/Aurora Hospital. Not only did she work there, she volunteered there until she was 91 years old.

She was one of the founders of the Lights of Love Program at Aurora and she loved working with that group of people.

To her caregivers-We would like thank Aurora VNA Hospice for the care and compassion you gave to Mom in her last weeks. Thanks especially to Judy, Linda, Marge, Mary,
Carla-your being there with Mom when we couldn't was certainly a comfort to us all.

Mom's final wishes were dignity. Northland Lodge was her home and the entire staff was an extension of our family. You shared Mom's good days and bad days and you always treated her with respect. Mom love each of you and we are thankful for all you did for her. We will most certainly miss seeing each of you and we hope you know that the work you do there is so appreciated.

A celebration of Mom's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3218 Tannery Rd., Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Tom Reynebeau with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m.

DUE TO ALLERGIES IN THE FAMILY, IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, MEMORIALS RECEIVED WILL BE USED TO ESTABLISH A MEMORIAL FUND IN MOM'S NAME.

Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St., Two Rivers, is assisting the Bauknecht family with funeral arrangements.
Good bye Mom. We will miss you greatly, but will carry with us all of the love and life's lessons that you and dad taught us. How lucky we all are to have had you in our lives. Rest peacefully now.
