Harrison Conner Jr., 67, beloved husband of Florence (Tolomea) Conner, of Bernard Road, Kensington, and Old Lyme, died peacefully on Wednesday, (September 3, 2003) at Hartford Hospital with his family by his side after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Harrison Conner Sr. and the late Helen (Wacker) Conner, he graduated from E.C. Goodwin Technical School, served in the U.S. Army, was employed at Burroughs Corporation, and retired from Keiler and Company. He was a member of St. Paul's Church, active in The Boy Scouts of America, and an avid woodcarver. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Donna Conner of Higganum; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maureen and Joseph Tenore of Berlin, and Kathleen and David Bernard of Kensington; a sister, Mary Rodick of Plantsville; six grandchildren, Mitchell and Michelle Conner, Michael and Kayla Tenore, and Conner and Jacob Bernard; several nieces and nephews, and two very special friends, Douglas Watrous, and Robert Parzych. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. directly at St. Paul's Church on Alling Street. Burial will follow in Old South Burying Ground, Kensington. Friends and relatives are invited to call at Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington on Friday from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to Pallative Care/Hospice Fund, or to the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center Fund, at Hartford Hospital, 80 Seymour Street, Hartford 06102-5037, or to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Avenue, New York, N.Y. 10021.
