Sylvia was one of 10 children born to Joseph and Emma (Brennemann) Ashby. Siblings were: George, Cora, John, Eunice, Bessie, Violet, Margaret, Martin and a stillborn un-named. She Married: Vernon Martin Dec 23, 1917 in Traverse City MI with whom she had Children: Jack & Ted Martin. Sylvia also had Vernon Junior LaMar Martin. Sylvia lost her husband, Vernon in 1931 and supported herself and her boys with her own beauty shoppe. Always a well-dressed, classy lady who was also very religious. She had a severe case of Shingles when she was aged which affected her memory in her last years.
