They built a new house in 1945 on their property southeast of Tipton, Missouri. Raymond farmed and did carpenter work. In 1957, they moved into Tipton where he devoted full time to construction work, moving back to the country when he quit that business, due to his health. In 1971, they bought and managed the motel in Tipton. They were both members of the Tipton Community Church and active in many community activities. Louise had served as president of the Tipton Federated Women's Club.
