Raymond and Erma Louise married in August, 1943. She was a widow with three young sons. She and Raymond had one daughter. Raymond, along with his father and brother, Roy, operated Dick Brothers Construction Company for many years. During that time, they constructed many homes and numerous business buildings in and around Tipton, Missouri.

In 1939, Raymond bought a farm southeast of Tipton. There was a two-room log cabin on it. In 1945, he and Louise moved into a new house there, and he farmed and continued in the construction business. In 1957, they moved into Tipton where he devoted full time to the construction business. In 1963, he quit the business, due to his health, and they moved back to the farm. In 1971, they bought and managed the motel in Tipton, which was one of the many businesses he had helped build. They were members of the Tipton Community Church and active in many community activities.
