Joe was born in LaCrosse, Florida on March 1, 1930 to parents, David Levi and Mattie Love Shaw, and passed away gracefully on July 8, 2014 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Shortly after graduating high school he answered the call of his country by joining the United States Air Force. He retired as a Master Sergeant after serving 20 years, but didn't stay retired long, he worked doing many things he loved and enjoyed, including becoming a Bossier Parish Sherriff's Office Posse Member. He had a love for music, playing the guitar and enjoyed life to the fullest and will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Ann Shaw; his sister, Lorene Outlaw and a grandson, James Slawson. He is survived by a son, Joe Jr. and Mary Shaw; two daughters, Bebia and Paul Slawson, and Robin and Johnny Kilgore; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
Honoring Joe as pallbearers will be family members.
