On Saturday afternoon, July 9, 2011, Wayne E. Sousley, 84, of Elkhart, peacefully reunited with his mother and father, sister and so many other of his friends and relatives, who, in believing that Jesus Christ, the Savior, is the only way to eternal life, are enjoying eternity in heaven.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Junelle (Sailor); his six children, Donna (Larry) Rabe of Elkhart, Wayne (Lois) Sousley Jr. of Elkhart, Virginia Welker of Goshen, Ruth (Roy) Zellars of St. Pete Beach, Fla., Linda (Tom) Istenes of Cassopolis, Mich., and Christine Reynolds of Elkhart; two stepsons, Justin (Chantelle) Hurtekant of Osceola and Corey Hurtekant of Elkhart; along with 22 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is Wayne's brother, Wendall (Dolores) Sousley of Gas City.

His sister, Pauline Miller, preceded him in death in 2010.

He was a 1944 graduate of Mishawaka High School. Wayne attended college at Bob Jones University, Cleveland, Tenn., and Fort Wayne Bible School, Fort Wayne. He was involved in evangelistic work and camps in Virginia and West Virginia. He later helped several local churches in Elkhart and Mishawaka with their building programs. In addition to owning and operating commercial trucks, he was owner and partners in several aftermarket RV parts and service companies, including hitch installations. He joined Reese Products and was service center manager, later traveling the U.S. and Canada as training manager instructing and motivating Reese distributors and dealers.

Recreationally, he enjoyed boating and cruising on Lake Michigan, motorcycling, camping and cooking outdoors.

Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman is handling cremation.

The family is planning a celebratory memorial service for friends and family at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Elkhart Valley Church of the Brethren, 24955 C.R. 24, Elkhart.
