Born February 10, 1920 in the small town of Delagua, CO. Born to Brablio & Tiburlia Contreras, he was the eldest of eight children. In 1942 he joined the U.S. Army, stationed in the Mariana Islands. He was discharged with honors in 1945. With his mother passing he decided to move his father to California in search of a better life. Dad purchased a bus and converted it into one of the first fruit & vegetable trucks in Los Angeles, naming it the Rolling Market. His base customers were located in Chavez Ravine, now Dodger Stadium. He met his wife Dorothy Jimenez at El Sombrero on Sunset Blvd in 1950, near Chavez Ravine and they married in 1953. My father had many ventures always an entrepreneur, seeing a need for delivery in the milk business he purchased routes and was successful with all of them. He purchased real estate in the area, not only giving back to the community, but as always being the constant gentleman in business and in pleasure.
Nick & Dorothy had three children; Nick Jr, Delphin and Christopher. He was a great man and even a better father; he always did the right thing. After 25 years of being a milkman he retired & started to travel the US. Unfortunately he suffered a stroke in 1981, and his health diminished thereafter. Still strong and still comprehending Dad was Dad till the end nurturing, scolding and loving. He passed away January 28th in our home of his sixth stroke. Through his eight years of sickness Mom was always by his side caring for him till the end.

He has passed, but is not forgotten...
