Dr. Kuhn was on staff at Medical City Dallas Hospital and Medical City Children's Hospital. He became ill and took off some time to recuperate from Pneumonia and a fever. Sadly and regretfully, Dr. Joseph Allen Kuhn, M.D. never recovered and his system became septic and he passed away Sunday July 20, 2014. God has called him home and Joseph Allen answered, obediently and promptly to that call!

He worked up till the first part of July and I saw him on the WLS Facebook Support page also, still caring for his patients, as sick as he was! He never learned to sit still!

Many of his patients like me, decided to wait on him to recoup and recover from his illness, before we went to another Doctor. He is worth the wait! I missed 2 appointments and never broke a sweat about it! I wanted him back to normal and well, and was waiting to see that smile on his face and skip in his step again! Dr. Kuhn and I talked prior to his illness. I asked him, "Whom do I go to when he's not there?" He knew, I was real picky about the Doctors we chose.

He said Dr. Henke! So today I took a leap of Faith and made my new appointment. Dr. Kuhn knowwws best! It's like starting all over again, and I am scared but I am going in FAITH and on Dr. Kuhn's recommendation! All you WLS Surgical Associate patients or new patients~~ choose Dr. Henke, because Dr. Kuhn believes in him and he trusts Dr. Henke with all his patients! After all is said and done, Dr. Henke was taught by the best ~~ Dr. Joseph Allen Kuhn! Proof is in the pudding ~~ keep reading!

Dr. Kuhn is on medical staff at Medical City Dallas Hospital and Medical City Children's Hospital. He has his own practice, called WLS Surgical Associates, PA, located in the Medical City Dallas Hospital, 7777 Forest Lane Suite 400-C, Dallas, Texas 75230.

Dr. Joseph Allen "J.K." Kuhn was born to Joseph Edward "Joe" Kuhn and Charlotte G. "Char" Burke. This union was blessed by God with 6 children born that I am aware of.

Dr. Joseph Allen Kuhn

Like Father, Like Son! Dr. Kuhn has parents that had values, moral & standards! Took a stand for what they believed in! I have never met them- just observed Dr. Kuhn. How he was and carried himself and strived for excellence in all he did! He used God's gifts to the best of his ability x 10! To honor God, not himself!

Jesus tells us to judge people by their fruits! Joseph Allen Kuhn had prime A-1 produce! If you see a person with "Rotten Produce" Runnnnnnnn and do not look back!

Joseph Allen just lost his Daddy on May 12, 2014. That is a loss of two Patriarch's of two generations in the same family, whom were called home to Heaven, just 70 days apart! We lost godly, honest men with integrity. Men with STRONG morals, values and standards and "FAITH IN ACTION EXAMPLES OF LIVNG" for all to see and follow. A Love for the Lord that will knock your socks off!

One of Joseph's old roomies had brought Mollie over to meet everyone. Joseph met the love of his life that day! Mollie Jean Bloodworth and it was love at first sight! As soon as he laid eyes upon her at Texas A & M, he knew she was "the one"! They dated awhile and then became engaged and off went Joseph to College Station I believe it was. Their long distant relationship began and lasted for about 2 years. On May 15,1982 in Harris County, Texas they were married. To this union, 3 children were born. Kristin, Courtney & Kevin Kuhn.

Their family is close-knit, loving, educated and always striving to reach goals they set for themselves as high achievers. They spend as much time as possible together and actually do things with each other and spend quality time with each other and their families. Dr. Joseph Kuhn mirrors his parents in these actions, and passes them on to his own children, with Mollie by his side.

Joseph & Mollie put God first and are a Christian family regularly going to Mass as a family. "A Family that prays together~~stays together!"

Dr. Kuhn was an Altar Boy, along side his brothers Michael and Dan, in his youth. Then went on to Boy Scouts and worked his way up to Eagle Scout.

Dr. Kuhn was raised in Lawton, Oklahoma and also lived in Nebraska and Kansas as well as he was growing up.

Dr. Kuhn is an excellent Doctor & Surgeon. He is an competitive over achiever that sets goals for himself and accomplishes all he wants too and then some! I admire him and his style of doing things! I too get things accomplished with "fun, exciting learning ways, and setting goals for myself!"

I don't care what the world thinks~~ COMPETITION is good and healthy. It makes folks riseeeee to the occasion and strive to achieve! Dr. Kuhn had Common Sense, was very competitive in his achievements, reaching higher after each goal he mastered on his list and had things all figured out!

Honestly he was in so many achievements such as teaching, learning, research in various places and fields, different areas of Skilled Surgery and on and on! Honestly he excelled in so much, truly it's hard to collect it all! Here's an example of a smidgen of what he has accomplished!

Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) was his first choice and a top rate teaching Hospital and Dr. Joseph Kuhn loved working there and was a people person, whom loved and was passionate about his Career. It wasn't a job to him! It was adventure, challenges, learning, research and no two days were exactly alike! He was an open book!

Joseph is a "TOP" WELL KNOWN Surgeon, for Cancer and Bariatric Patients with 26 years of experience. He did my gallbladder by Laparoscopic surgery and he started doing Laparoscopic surgery with no delays, after authorized for use. When the "world" was ready for it~~he already had it mastered and under his belt and was rip roaring and ready to use this new technology! He was always looking for ways to comfort, ease the pain and pave a way for new methods for the good of his patients. He cared!

Dr. Kuhn is affiliated with 14 hospitals.

To sum this all up, Dr. Kuhn in total did over 15,000 surgical operations. After and all through his hard work. This humble man was often heard saying, "The surgeon does the destructive work; the Lord does the Healing!"

He even spoke Spanish! This man was truly amazing! Along with his Partner in life and Business, wife, best friend, teammate and Mother of his Children, right by his side and probably stepping aside at times carrying the weight, so he could put his total attention into whatever he was doing at that time, such as Schooling, Business trips/meetings etc. They were a team, up to the day death parted them.

They both are awesome role models for the world to follow after! From an early age Dr. Kuhn was always trying to improve on his techniques, and being more efficient. He strived to do better than the best and to utilize ALL of what GOD had gifted him with, to the full extent! Jesus shined in and through everything Joseph Allen Kuhn did! Joseph knew the Glory belonged to the Lord, not him and he would be rewarded in Heaven on the day he was called home, to be cradled in the arms of Jesus, basking in Jesus' pure bright white glowing Glory, that lights up ALL of Heaven!

His down time & fun things he enjoyed doing~~ camping, golfing, tennis, and reading Sci-Fi book and Religious books. Mollie Jean & Dr. Kuhn skied, enjoyed movies and meals out with the family. Dr. Kuhn loved his Children and did things with them. They did Boy Scout events together. He was a big fan of Boy Scouts from an early age. He was an Assistant Scoutmaster for Kevin's Boy Scout Troop. In his younger years he did Boy Scouts and even some long distance running.

Dr. Kuhn was a giving man and funded many Charities, along with Texas Association of Bariatric Surgeons & American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Foundation plus the American College for Surgeons.

He believed in Voluntering & getting involved in Memberships and participation in various organizations that were of quality and would make or made a difference in the world, for generations to come. Here's a few he participated in ~~

• Chairman of Mary Crowley Medical Research Center, IRB.
• Pres-Elect of North Texas Chapter of American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Kuhn was a man of much experience and many talents. He was a very humble man, caring for others in need. He listened to his patients and talked to them, not at them! He was well educated and always striving to learn more and keep up with the latest technologies and research.

He was a kind and gentle soul, that walked with the Lord, Jesus Christ. He would comfort you by his words if you were uncomfortable, scared, frightened or just uneasy about a decision you had to decide on etc..

Dr. Kuhn was like the Energizer Bunny but FASTER always on the go and serving his many patients, in a warm and personal friend kind of way. His patients weren't just another dollar in his pocket, they were human beings with a real need and he would/could rise to the call to help, each one of us, to give us a better quality of life! He had a way of making you care and like yourself, no matter what your weight was.

Dr. Kuhn saved my life literally, from a 40 year old Jejunoileal Weight Bypass that almost killed me, due to turning against me and attacking my Autoimmune System and diseases~~Multiple Sclerosis and Fibromyalgia, not to mention Arthritis plus. He put me on a feeding tube for 6 months to build my body back up, before he did the surgeries and procedures I needed. I wasn't fat when I went to him for the first time in my life!

I was miserable and fainting 9-12 times a day! Organs were trying to shut down and all of the mal-absorbing was causing the rest of my organs to act out in a negative way. He told me I would hyper gain and oh boy have I. I am almost back where I began~~40 years ago! Fat but happy and very much alive! Thank you Dr. Kuhn! We love you! Life is a precious gift from God! Dr. Joseph Allen Kuhn, was a special gift from God to all mankind to have a better quality of life! God blessed Dr. Kuhn and Dr. Kuhn knew it and gave back to the Community and so many places!

God blessed him with a special wife and Children. They had to be, to balance his crazy schedules, to make it all work and be balanced and come together.

I will never forget the day I had the reversal, after my body built back up and it was Thanksgiving Day and he came to see meeeee in the Hospital to check on me! I was one of his complicated challenging cases. He truly loved his family but his patients in a corny sort of way~~ we were his family too!

I love that man, as my husband does also. He saved my life and for that we are truly thankful and grateful that God made him just the way he was and for Mollie Jean who shared the love of her life~~with the world and all of his patients! Thanks so much Mollie, Kristin, Courtney and Kevin Kuhn.

Our goal was to honor all of you with Joseph Allen, because you are a "TEAM" and it took many sacrifices from the whole family, for Dr. Kuhn to have been this successful! Thank you.

Dr. Joseph Allen Kuhn was a man of integrity and honesty. A man you could trust your life with and his word~~you could take it to the bank! He loved what he did and loved life! He loved people, as Jesus loved him! He listened to Jesus' request, for all of us to love one another!

He not only professed his Faith, he lived it to the best of his ability as a human being could. When I see Joseph Allen Kuhn, I see Abraham in the Bible~~ he did everything "BY FAITH". I see David in the Bible- the man who had a "HEART FOR THE LORD"! Nothing held him back~~he loved life and the Lord and lived every day like it was his last and enjoyed every moment God gave him.

We love you "Doc", and miss you greatly and join the many grieving for you and your family. We will see you soon, when Jesus returns for HIS people!

8/18/2014 Update to share~ I went to my appointment today to visit Dr. Henke. I was scared, unsure but had prayed and prayed. I followed Dr. Kuhn's advice and went to my appointment. Dr. Henke took time with me and answered all my questions and my fears disappeared. Dr. Henke is all that and A~okay in my book~~so my journey continues with Dr. Kuhn's recommendations and high regard for Dr. Henke. I can see that big ole grin of yours Doc, nodding that head in approval all the way from Heaven!
