Robert John "Bob" Abicht was born to Edmund William Abicht & Veronica Ellen Welsh, Abicht. This union was blessed with 7 Children that I am aware of. James Francis "Jim" Abicht, Robert John "Bob" Abicht, Dennis Joseph Abicht, Richard Edmund Abicht, Ronald "Ron" Abicht, Joan Marguerite Abicht, Schmitz and Rita Jeanne Abicht, Cockrell.

Robert John was a graduate of the, "Class of 1957" at Aquinas High School. Aquinas High School is a Roman Catholic high school located in La Crosse, Wisconsin with colors of Navy Blue, Old gold, Yea! Go Aquinites!

In 1959 Robert John had a job as a Cook, for the Ferraro's College Inn.

Robert felt a need for something more. He set off for higher education at St. Mary's University in Winona, Minnesota and graduating in 1961.

Robert John was now furthering his Education, to be able to achieve his desires of being a Teacher of the younger generations and to be the best Teacher he could possibly be, so he went on to the University of Wisconsin. Graduating and achieving with a Master of Arts degree in 1970.

He desired to be that loving, caring, Teacher that would encourage all his students to excellence and equipping them with the best skills and knowledge to face the world head on!

He searched to find that weakness in each student, molding them along the way, teaching them how to sharpen their skills to conquer their fears and inner self, to believe in themselves and soaring with a whole new world of capabilities available and now visable to them.

After all his Education accomplishments, he set out to find his place and corner of the world that he enjoyed being at and applying the Education he worked so hard at achieving. He chose to work teaching English in Virginia, and Minnesota, following the trail where he was needed the most and then settled there and planted roots and gave the Students his all! When he was needed elsewhere, he was eager to answer the call of need.

Robert John's next Career adventure took him to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and he finished out his career in Cedar Grove, Wisconsin. Retiring after 35 years of devotion for his students and giving them his all, in order to give them the best start possible for life!

Robert John put all his skills and education to work for the future generations to exceed in excellence, so he felt the need to also teach College Prep Courses. Robert John was a giving, loving, caring man that followed Jesus' examples of loving mankind and helping others. He was filled with energy and excitement!

As I searched and walked through Robert John's Life long Journey, I was amazed at all the Plays and Musicals I saw attached to his name over the years. I read, he participated in many areas, setting stages and back drops for the Plays all the way up to Directing many Plays & Musicals. He thrived on being a part of what his passion was, in any way or occasion, whatever the job called for.

His travels and adventures took him to many places, Arizona, Nevada, Florida and of course Wisconsin, that I know of and I imagine many more places. Robert John enjoyed life to the fullest and utilized the gifts that God blessed him with, showering love and excitement wherever his Journey took him and sharing it with the World!

Robert John enjoyed directing the Holland Festival Musicals for several years, to bring Culture and The Arts to the multitudes. He loved to light up peoples faces with smiles as they were introduced to new things of "The Arts". Robert John volunteered many of hours of his time and talents, over and over again to a Student, friend or loved one in need and much to the Cedar Grove High School and Community.

I just learned from my Cousin, Joan Marguerite Abicht, Schmitz that Robert John was an amazing pianist also and accompanied the Band many times at the school. Robert John also would invite all the Teachers and folks with no plans for Christmas or Thanksgiving, to his home. Fix and feed them all with a luscious feast! Looks like Robert John had the "Gift of Hospitality" from the Lord, along with all his other gifts and his God-given talents, he was blessed with.

Robert will be miss by many and truly was a pillar and asset to the whole Community, or to all that crossed his path. As I walked through his Adventures and Life Story, I was excited and proud of all his Accomplishments, but more so of how he shared them and used them for the good of everyone! He was a giving man and not a bit selfish, I am proud to call Robert John my family!
