James Francis "Jim" Abicht was born to Edmund William Abicht & Veronica Ellen Welsh, Abicht. This union was blessed with 7 Children that I am aware of. James Francis "Jim" Abicht, Robert John "Bob" Abicht, Dennis J. Abicht, Richard Edmund Abicht, Ronald William "Ron" Abicht, Joan Marguerite Abicht, Schmitz and Rita Jeanne Abicht, Cockrell.

James Francis "Jim" Abicht married Marilyn E. McGrath on August 4, 1973 in Ramsey, Anoka County, Minnesota. To this blessed union was born, one child that I am aware of, Andrew J. Abicht.

Sadly, this union was broken and dissolved as they divorced on May 8, 1982 in Dakota, Winona County, Minnesota.

Jim met Betty Sly and they spent time together and became best friends, shared things together and became very close, till death parted them.

As a youngster, Jim went to Holy Trinity Grade School.

Jim graduated in the "Class of 1960" of Aquinas High School. "Yea, Go Aquinite's!" Jim was an excellent dancer in High School and the girls looked forward to being his dancing partner.

Then set off for higher education at St. Mary's University in Winona, Minnesota and graduating in 1964.

After graduation he set out to find his place and corner of the world that he enjoyed being at and applying the Education he worked so hard at achieving. He chose to work as a diagnostic programmer for Sperry in St. Paul, Minnesota.

As I searched articles and documents that pertained to Jim. I saw over and over, how much he was devoted to his son Andrew. Talked about him to many others, bursting with, "Father Proudness"! Jim was so proud of Andrew's life choices, accomplishments and just being able to be his Daddy and call him, his son!

I saw that Jim was an Artist in many areas. Woodworking, painting and drawing sketches of people and things, to name a few. He was very talented and creative and enjoyed using all the skills and gifts, that Jesus blessed him with! Jim was active in the Minnesota Viking Woodcarvers Club up till about 2010. Jim collected different kinds of wood from various places, such as exotic's, domestic woods.

Next his journey in life takes us to see he became a self-employed woodworker for many years. It was a life long passion of his.

Jim loved to cook and swapped recipes with friends. He was known for his smile and upbeat easy going attitude and his great sense of humor. He seemed to make friends wherever he went. He could sit down over a dinner table and swap stories and laughter and have the time of his life, and making other's feel so uplifted and blessed! He truly had a gift to Communicate with people.

Here's how some of the folks in Jim's life that crossed his path over the years, described him: This warmed my heart as I read the comments, and to me were worth more than gold!

• Jim was a loving and giving soul.

• I enjoyed his company, humor and smile.

• He was a great guy. Smart-as-a-whip on almost anything - and funny!

• He did have a love of art.

• Jim was a good person.

• He was a great guy.

• Smart-as-a-whip on almost anything - and funny!

• Jim volunteered and wrote for the Dakota County Historical Society Museum.

• He was a great woodworker and carver.

• Jim was a giving man!

• Jim was a man of strong Faith!

• We love you "Big Jim"!

To me, that says a lot about the character and integrity of a man. He was loved by many and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a man that truly put his "Faith into Action" and loved people from the insides out! I am proud to call Jim my family!
