Obituary, Beaver County Times (Beaver, PA), 29 Sep 2004:

Joseph James Abbey, 79, of Rennerdale, formerly of Robinson Township, passed away Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, in Kindred Hospital.

Born May 8, 1925, in Masontown, a son of the late Joseph W. and Melva (Lear) Abbey, he was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, earning two bronze stars and a silver star. Mr. Abbey was in active service with the Air National Guard during the Vietnam Conflict, retiring after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Hopewell VFW and a former member of the Coraopolis VFW.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Joseph J. Abbey Jr., on April 18, 1967.

Loving husband for 56 years to Mildred (Seamon) Abbey, he was the loving father of Richard and Janet Abbey of Imperial, Susan and Robert Mosholder of Aliquippa, and Carol and Kevin Rankin of Peters Township and proud grandfather of Lori Watters, Nikki Hannon, Missy Andrews, Carrie Helms, and Rachel and Julie Rankin. He is also survived by five great-granddaughters and a great-grandson. He was the brother of Alberta Abbey and Dolores Savage, both of Hopwood, PA

Friends will be received today and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Copeland Moon Township Funeral Home, 981 Brodhead Road, where a service will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Tom Jones will officiate.

Burial will be in Union Dale Cemetery with full military honors.
