Oskar Franz Xaver von Miller, son of Ferdinand von Miller, who had casted Munich's "Bavaria" monument, studied civil and electric engineering. In 1882, he organized the first electrical exhibition in Germany, featuring the delivery of electrical energy over 60 km. Together with Emil Rathenau, he served as managing director of the newly-founded AEG (General Electricity Company) from 1883 to 1889 end constructed Germany's first power plant. In 1890, he established an engineering office of its own, supervising the contruction of the Walchensee Power Station from 1918-1924.
In 1903, he established the Deutsches Museum.
