Frederick Ferdinand was named after his grandfather, the famous architect F.F. Schnitzer (see below) , who constructed many structures on the National Register of Historic Places. He married to Agnes Bauer Leonard in 1938.
Children:
Teddy Leonard
Mary Jo Leonard
*Frederick Ferdinand Leonard, Jr. (married Elaine Plonski Leonard in Ohio).
Michael John Leonard
Patric J. Leonard
*Frederick Ferdinand Jr. became an architect, coincidentally enough.

Both father and son were named after their grandfather, F.F. ( Friedrich Ferdinand) Schnitzer.
-----
His mother, Anna Schnitzer Leonard, was the daughter of F.F. Schnitzer. The Schnitzers were ancestrally related to royalty in Germany and once had a huge estate of 200 acres in Bavaria with an enormous center court.
Anna Schnitzer Lenoard's sister, Pauline Schnitzer, visited this enormous estate in Bavaria and drew sketches of it.
