George Thomas Stubbs age 84 of Marlow, TN is finally cancer free. On August 20, 2014 there was no more suffering, and no more pain. His diabetes has been healed, his heart and is now 100%!
He joined in eternity his father and mother, L.L. and Nell Stubbs, 3 brothers, 1 sister.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of almost 63 years, Bonnie Stubbs of Marlow, TN, a brother, Hubert Stubbs in Belleville, MI, and a sister, Carol Lou McQueen from Burlington NC. His legacy of four children, Tony (Beth) Stubbs of Knoxville, TN, Larry (Roni) Stubbs of Clinton, TN, (Mike) Karen Hughes of Kingston, TN, and (Keith) Kay Lovejoy of Knoxville, TN, 16 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren (and 3 on the way), is one that not many men of this day can boast!
He followed his kids here from Michigan in 1988 after working 34 yrs and retiring from GM. He was a volunteer firefighter at Marlow Volunteer Fire Department. He was a longtime member of Marlow Baptist Church but was currently a member of Batley Baptist Church. What he lacked in affection he made up for with thoughtfulness, rarely visiting without something in hand. Whether it be something from the garden or a trinket from the store, you always knew he was thinking of you.
The family would like to invite you to celebrate with them the home going of their husband, father, brother, and papaw this Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Batley Baptist Church 670 Batley Road Clinton, TN. Receiving friends will be from 1pm-3pm with a service at 3pm. Graveside will immediately follow. Holley Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
